CLOSED! I went on Saturday, March 30th and there was a notice that Sunday, March 31, 2024 is their last day. They are moving across from Colonie Center. They said they will re-open under a different name and it will not be until August 2024 or so. Just an fyi not to go here anymore. Look out for whatever new place they open in the coming months.

I havent been to a buffet for a long time since mostly closed out in Chicago. I would say lots of food choices and food is hot and freshly made. The price is reasonable. We went on a dinner time so there is steamed crab, clam and crawfish. They were OK. I tried some of their usual chinese dishes like sesame chicken, shumai, roast duck, stuffed mushroom, walnut shrimp and they taste good. They have the teppanyaki if that is what it's called wherein you put the ingredients you want in a plate like noodles, chk/beef/pork/tofu, veggies, sauces and give it to the cook. The taste is not that great but it's good they have this choice. They services is great, the servers are attentive. Many people in the place, it's kinda clean. Lots of parking outside. If I would go back? Probably. If im craving for chinese food their price is great for the amount of food you can eat.

I flew into Albany for a meeting, and stopped by the Capital Buffet on my way to the hotel. It was around 5:30pm, on the earlier side of dinner, and not very busy. It did pickup about 30 minutes later as I finished. I personally find Chinese buffet reviews over critical. If you go in with the mindset that you are really purchasing variety over quality I don't think you will be disappointed. I am not saying the quality is bad, but if you want Ruths Chris that is right down the road. I personally enjoyed the variety that I have have a small about of hibachi, some sweet and south chicken, maybe a little beef, and, if I feel like it, something completely different like a couple chicken nuggets :) I will say I am not the type of person who hits a buffet for quantity, pilling multiple plates full of food like it's my last dinner. I take a plate, and, for example, will take one or two pieces of several different types of chicken or beef and walk to my table with a large portion of my plate still visible. I like trying a variety of things. I did try the hibachi, although it did take about 10 minutes for someone to start cooking it after ringing the bell. This was not a issue for me, I samples a few other items while patiently waiting. Every item was filled, and everything appeared hot and fresh. The service was great. I felt attended to when I needed a refill or a plate removed. The staff were nice and friendly. My only surprises were most Chinese buffets have chocolate putting (I don't know why, I just have become accustomed to having a little since it's common) but they do not - at least not tonight. And instead of scoop ice cream they only had soft serve vanilla (No chocolate but they did Hershey syrup). These were minor disappointments. I found the price fair at $20 for an adult dinner. No question this was a five star experience for me. Next time I am in the area, I will definitely be back!
